Bodog.com Poker ReviewBodog Poker - Poker with attitude! At least, that's Bodog.com's advertising campaign for the moment. Bodog Poker is a small poker room but is unique because of its sportsbook and casino affiliation. We was surprised at how easy it was to bet on sports once We had my poker account setup. Being an avid fan of basketball and football, We plan on being active in the Bodog Sportsbook. Headquartered in San Jose, Costa Rica, Bodog.com is a fully licensed wagering and entertainment company. Founded in 1995, Bodog.com is now the global leader in safe and secure online wagering. So even though the Bodog Poker room is new, Bodog has been around for a long time. Bodog.com also offers guaranteed seats to the World Poker Tour and the World Series of Poker. Bodog.com Poker Software Interface/Usability Bodog Poker's interface is very nice. We tend to like the rooms that allow avatar uploads, and Bodog Poker's interface has this option. If you don't like the avatars, you can hide them by going through Tools - Options. The table chat can also be disabled. At times it seems the cards come out slower than at other rooms, but it isn't too bad. The waitlist feature is fairly standard, it works about as well as on the other poker rooms that offer it. Bodog Poker's Hand history feature also works fine, We used it after taking a bad beat on the river on a particular hand. Overall, the Bodog Poker software interface is solid and up to date. The Bodog Poker lobby is very good, offering the key statistics of the average pot size and the pre-flop percentages - very important information when applying your table selection strategies. Bodog.com Poker Room ActionBodog Poker does not have many players at the time of this writing. It's one of the smallest rooms we've reviewed yet, hosting only about 600-700 players. However, Bodog's marketing and advertising campaigns are aggressive, and We would expect Bodog to substantially increase its player base in 2005. Bodog.com Poker Customer and Technical SupportWhen writing up this review we were looking for the number of players on Bodog Poker. We didn't see the number of players statistic anywhere so We called the 1-888-263-0000 number and asked. Bodog.com said the total players statistic is something they do not have at this time. If enough people ask for it then Bodog will show it in the future. The good thing about the call was that it verified that their customer service is prompt. Unlike some 888 numbers where there is no response or a slow response, Bodog answered right away. Bodog was good about verifying my security questions and then they helped answer my question immediately. Based on my experience, support at Bodog.com was excellent. Bodog Poker's Ease of Game, Ease of Making Money, Fish RatingWe haven't done as well at Bodog Poker as We have at Party, Absolute, Pacific Poker and GamingClub. Mainly because of poor cards and some tough beats. But, also partly because I've made some bad decisions. We would think there would be a lot of gamblers, and less poker players, in the Bodog Poker room since Bodog.com has a connected sportsbook and casino, but We don't really know because of my short stay here. Bodog.com Poker Bonus and PromotionsThe bonus at Bodog Poker is immediate. Right after We made my deposit the cashier showed the 10% bonus as part of my account. This is a nice bonus program because Bodog.com allows you to wager that bonus immediately. We wish We would have made a bigger initial deposit to receive more of a bonus (you can always pull the money out). Bodog Poker has player points and regular tournaments to reward the players. The player points allow you to enter Bodog freeroll tournaments. We played in a $100 freeroll tourney shortly after joining. There were 588 players total which made this a huge tournament given the normal size of Bodog. Pulling nearly 600 players together at the same time was a decent accomplishment for Bodog, especially since the tournament was late at night (12 midnight Pacific time).
